TGZ:
Interviewing you from Loudrage in an honour
for us in the Thundergod Zine - it´s
always a pleasure to talk with real metal
heads! And just to start, how do you see yourselves
in the world´s metal scene? |
Cheers, Antonio! It's our pleasure to present
our band to the Brazilian readers and we thank
you for the oportunity!
Well, we're just starting to promote the band
outside the borders of our country, so we're
not a well known name (yet, haha), but things
are going well, we receive a lot of feedback
from all over the world and openminded metalheads
seem to appreciate our band too. You know,
we're not the next virtuoso band, we're not
technical enough for these days, we try to
go our way, an old-school death metal with
a massive, groovy sound, and that might be
a step back for some ears who want only Necrophagist-like
new bands. :) But again, we're proud lots
of maniacs get what we do.
|
TGZ:
What´s your inner motivation to play
Heavy Metal, and why Groovy Death Metal? Also,
what musical groups influence Laudrage´s
rage? |
We
play this kind of death metal because we're
influenced by both old-school bands and the
new wave of groove many bands have. We're
doing music that we like, and I tell you,
I really like our tracks. bands that influenced
our way of composing would be Six Feet Under,
Debauchery or even Amon Amarth, Sepultura
or Stabwound, so pretty different names...
Some say we're going on a groovy-er Grave
path, and I agree although we were never influenced
by their music.
About the motivation, man, I don't know. I'm
involved in the metal scene for almost 15
years now, and never intended to leave it.
It's just within us, it's what we like. Metal
all the way!
|
TGZ:
Specially from Brazil, what Heavy Metal
groups do you know and appreciate? |
All in the band appreciate bands like Sepultura,
Krisiun, Torture Squad or the legends Sarcofago,
but there are a lot of more bands that I really
like from there: Angra, Nervochaos, Nauseous
Surgery, Decomposed God, Confronto, Tuatha
de Danann or Scars (plus others I can't remember
right now). You have a really great scene
over there, packed with great bands, labels,
zines and many supporters. I wish we could
have one like that...
|
TGZ:
We heard you played in a tour along
with Torture Squad from Brazil. How was the
experience like? |
It
wasn't really a tour, we just took part on
two concerts they had in Romania, and man
it was great. The guys are really awesome,
both as musicians and as persons. Very friendly
and funny, we had a great time. For me this
band became one of my top 10 bands ever. They
are really a great band and hope they'll rule
the world's metal scene soon.
|
TGZ:
Now talking about funny things, what was the
weirdest memory you have from your tours?
|
There
are many, many funny memories, from sleeping
in train-stations to having awesome parties
and loads of drinks, to smashing our heads
on the scene (I had my head bleeding twice
or three times, and the other guys too). Maybe
the weirdest remains our first gig ever. It
was during a rock festival in our home-town,
we played last, but the police stopped us
after 3 or 4 tracks because we were too brutal
on stage, hahaha. Wankers!
|
TGZ:
Well, just when we listen to your debut
EP "A Murder Tale" we cannot avoid
thinking about Mortician, mainly because of
the movie sounds you both use. Have you ever
thought about this? |
To
be honest I never thought of this comparation.
They are much, much more brutal than we are
and I think they sound is more massive than
ours. We would like to have such a sound,
but don't think it would suit our style so
much. Anyway, we're honoured to have inspired
such a comparison.
|
TGZ:
I understand LoudRage explore other tendencies;
do you think Heavy Metal is leaving the old
themes like Hell and Heaven along... I mean
the occult schemes... and it´s showing
other corners nowadays? |
No, not at all. Metal has a very large thematic
field, the occult themes are still there,
many bands are still using them, but that
doesn't mean all bands should play about the
same subjects. It's such an overpopulated
scene nowadays that I think not so many give
a shit about lyrics only in case it's really
something special.

TGZ:
Well, we thank you for taking your time
to talk to us, and wish you luck in your trajectory.
Now you have room to say some words for readers
and fans. |
Thanks again, Antonio, for all your support!
Thanks to Thundergod zine and to its readers!
